Featured Class: Gentle Yoga

Lexi Major’s Gentle Yoga class (Level 1/All Levels) meets every Wednesday from 7-8 PM (in-studio & online). This class incorporates slower-paced movements and restorative poses, focusing on gently increasing strength, balance, and flexibility to allow the body to release and rejuvenate. Admission is pay-what-you-can, starting at $5.

How would you describe your class?

“This class is intended to meet the needs of all levels of participants. We usually start with a slow and gentle warm up, before moving into some standing poses to build strength, and then some final stretches. My classes are always taught through the lens of trauma-informed yoga. I give lots of options throughout class, so participants can feel agency over their yoga practice. These classes can really be built around the needs of whoever comes to class on any particular day. I hope you join us!”

What is your favorite thing about teaching this class?

“My favorite thing about teaching this class is connecting with people! At the beginning of class, I will always ask if there are special requests for an area of the body to work on, or limitations to keep in mind. As a trained yoga therapist, I love connecting with people around taking care of their bodies! My second favorite thing about teaching this class is the happy, satisfied look on people's faces after shavasana. That is the best!”

What do you hope students will experience in this class?

“I hope that people will take away a feeling of peace and calm in their minds, comfort and relaxation in their bodies, and a sense of deep connection with themselves.”
