Featured Class: Yoga Foundations

Katie’s Yoga Foundations class (Level 1/All Levels) meets every Tuesday from 7-8 PM (in-studio). If you’re new to yoga, start here! This class is designed for the first time yoga student as well as anyone who wants to strengthen the building blocks of their yoga practice. Learn healthy alignment principles as you study a variety of different poses, explore gentle breathwork, and practice meditation in an environment that supports the beginning student. We asked Katie to describe her class in her own words.

Tell us about your class!

“Yoga Foundations is a slow-flow, hatha yoga class. We begin with a centering, connecting to spinal alignment and complete breath. We warm up the body with gentle movement, then move into common and more challenging strengthening and balancing postures. We then cool down with gentle stretching before a final resting pose with guided meditation.”

What is your favorite thing about teaching this class?

“In a fast-paced world of productivity, my favorite thing about teaching this class is slowing down to observe the breath, observe sensation, and observe the mind.”

What do you hope students will take away from this class?

“I hope that students will leave class with feelings of spaciousness and stability in their minds and bodies, a renewed sense of embodiment.”
