Michael Sheely

Empathy Trainer | Life & Relationship Coach | Business Coach

(he/him)

Over 20 years ago Michael committed to learning and teaching empathy as a tool for personal and relational development. He continues to explore ways of realizing his vision of creating a more compassionate and caring world grounded in personal responsibility, kindness and skillful relating. Michael has held an array of positions including an arts-based empowerment facilitator, mediator, coach, and empathy trainer, as well as serving a number of non-profit organizations ranging from alternative currencies to environmental and social activism to mediation and restorative justice. At the core of Michael’s work is a belief that as a society we need to change the paradigm of us and them, punishment over healing, and infinite economic growth on a finite planet. Michael believes that empathy is the tool that helps humanity recognize the interconnectedness of all people with each other and with our precious and delicate biosphere that sustains the web of life on earth.

After graduating with a BComm from Carleton University, Michael chose to pursue his development in the softer skills of human relating, especially with Marshall Rosenburg, the founder of Non-Violent Communication, counseling, mediation, life coaching and workshop facilitation. And from the school of life he especially enjoys his role as husband and father.
