Community Spotlight: Angelica Castro

We are thrilled to introduce someone very important to the YS community! Throughout 2021, Angelica Castro has been facilitating our staff’s monthly Dismantling Racism sessions, AND she is now hosting an upcoming 6 week series focused on Healing Racism Through Meditation (starting January 9th) for anyone interested in gathering to do this vital, deep, & reflective work.

But first…who is Angelica Castro…and why is she so awesome?!

How do you identify?
I identify as a multiracial, cis-gender woman, mother, daughter, sister and community connector.

What is your profession?
I am a Certified (R)Evolutionary LOVE Coach and Chief Transformation Officer and Founder of Castro Collaborative: "Engineering Inclusive Excellence with a Heart-Centered Approach".

What have you gained from this work?
As a Social Justice Educator, Intergroup Dialogue Facilitator and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Consultant, I am constantly learning, growing and becoming a more aware and compassionate human being.

How does your practice of yoga inform your activism or understanding of the world?
Yoga has been foundational to my healing journey, releasing intergenerational trauma that lives in my body and mind, and in doing so, I have been able to reconnect and align with my authentic self.

What's your favorite season of the year and why?
My favorite season is summer because I am a Sun-Goddess who loves to travel to beaches around the world, however I would love to be able to do that during the winter as well!

What has made you smile recently that you feel the need to share?
Spending family time with my four children, Tyrell- 25, Angelle- 23, Isa- 17 and Sammy- 14, always makes my heart smile and reminds me of my purpose of love, growth and transformation.
