Announcing our Studio Reopening in June!

Dear Ones,

This morning I read a passage by the meditation teacher Lorin Roche, who described the mantra Om as a “saying yes” to life. A life that is rhythmic—pulsing with breath, heartbeats, and daily routines. A life that includes all of our thoughts, feelings, and experiences. A life that flows in and out.

We have spent a long time inside and away from the experiences that typically drive outer connection. We have transplanted these experiences to the virtual world, and have adapted skillfully (and not so skillfully!). Perhaps we have forgotten what life felt like before, when we could breathe and move together in a communal space.

We are about to remember.

We are reopening our Studio in June!

  • June 14: Summer Schedule Launch

    • Most of our classes will be hybrid!

  • June 14–18: Member Week

    • Members only allowed back in the Studio

    • Everyone, including members, is welcome to attend online!

  • June 19: Community-wide Reopening

    • Everyone can attend in-Studio classes!

Health and Safety Considerations

After reviewing the latest research, receiving feedback from our community, and following the guidelines set by Governor Charlie Baker, the City of Northampton, and Thornes Marketplace, our mask policy will be as follows:

  • Fully vaccinated people are welcome to be unmasked in our Studio, pending comfort.

  • Unvaccinated people are asked to be masked in our Studio.

  • Anyone experiencing symptoms (whether vaccinated or unvaccinated) is asked to stay home.

Props will be available for public use, but you are also welcome to bring your own props to class. Cloth-based props (blankets, bolster covers, straps) will be cleaned monthly. Mats and blocks will be sanitized by students after each use. Eye pillows will not be available.

As always, we are open to your feedback and ready to shift policies and practices as needed.

This pending transition is both thrilling and anxiety-provoking. There is the looking forward to a return to “normalcy,” and there is also a gripping resistance, born from the informed concern, the not-knowing, and even the new part of ourselves that we found in the quiet, and rather like.

Yoga is the way that we integrate it all.

It is the way that we “say yes” to life, to ourselves.

More details are forthcoming, but for now, we warmly invite you back into the Studio in mid-June, and we are also happy to have you tuning in from home or attending our outdoor offerings.

Namaste to our members and longtime students who have supported Yoga Sanctuary through a truly treacherous fifteen months. We made it to the other side because of you.

Yours,

Lindsay
