Cara D’Anello
Registered Dietitian
(they/she)
Cara is a queer, genderqueer, and neurodivergent Registered Dietitian, owner of Homeward Bound Nutrition. They work primarily with adults who experience a complicated relationship with food and their body. This may show up as disordered eating, an eating disorder, a history of chronic dieting, and/or navigating the task of eating as a neurodivergent individual. Cara also works with folks who are looking for support around chronic health conditions, such chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, irritable bowel syndrome, poly cystic ovarian syndrome, ehlers danlos syndrome, and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.
Cara applies nutrition through a Health at Every Size® framework, which rejects the use of weight, size, or BMI as proxies of health. She firmly believes in fat liberation and that working on one's eating habits does not equate to needing to lose weight or the pursuit of health as a moral obligation. They integrate harm reduction as a model of care to nutrition when working with folks with eating disorders and those who feel conflicted between weight loss and body acceptance.
