Rebecca Ossorio
Yoga Instructor
(she/her)
Rebecca began her teaching career when she attended Kripalu’s month-long immersive yoga teacher training in March 1999. She taught yoga full-time in yoga studios, athletic facilities, and on college campuses in New York’s Hudson Valley region before continuing her teacher training in elementary and early childhood education.
While teaching elementary school and yoga at the same time she realized that whether she was teaching math to first graders or yoga to grown-ups, she always saw her role as supporting students connecting with themselves and the stuff of the world.
In 2013 Rebecca completed her doctorate in education where she explored the value of contemplative practices in teaching and learning. She studied the overlap between educational theory and yogic philosophy, focusing on the role of presence and reflection in the learning process.
For the past 10 years, she has been working on various projects as an education consultant and researcher. Her favorite work has been developing contemplative group reflective processes for those seeking to integrate the deep wisdom of their communities into decision-making and growth.
