with Kat Now
Explore the embodied mindfulness practices of song and mantra in Breath, Body, and Sound. This guided class will help to bring awareness to your body through group singing as a mindfulness practice in English and Sanskrit. Class will start with a brief physical yoga practice and yogic breathing exercises to support healthy singing. Suggestions on improvised movement while singing will be provided throughout the class. Students will leave with tools to integrate sound and mantra as a grounding embodied mindfulness practice into their daily life. Absolutely no singing experience is necessary to benefit from this class, only the willingness to experience the healing sensation of making music and feeling its resonance in your body. Breath, Body, and Sound is guided and created by Kat Now based on her spiritual practices and her many years of training in voice, yoga, conscious dance, mindfulness, and trauma-informed facilitation skills.
Students will learn Embodied Mindfulness practices that can gently guide them back to the present moment to invite more calm into their bodies. This is an active, accessible, creative, and embodied way to learn and experience mindfulness. This class is an integrated accessible offering, meaning that this class is a welcoming space for people who live with disabilities, and for people who do not. Everyone can benefit from these practices and can learn new ways of integrating active embodied mindfulness into daily life.
