Introducing our new Studio Manager!
Dear friends,
This has been a season of significant transition for Yoga Sanctuary. Amidst the change, what I am most grateful for is the love and care from our community. When Sara needed to find a new owner, I knew deep within that I needed to be that person. The hiring of our next studio manager is no different.
I am thrilled to share that our next studio manager will be our very own, Angelica Lopez! To this position, Angelica brings her excellent customer service background, many hours of anti-oppression training, and a fierce devotion to our studio. Angelica is currently in training with Jen, which has been made more easeful by her previous understanding of Mindbody (our registration software) from her time on the work study team.
I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Jen for her loving attention in working with and training me these past few months. Jen’s commitment to our studio during immense change has made both the transition in ownership and now the transition to a new studio manager feel seamless. Jen is a very special person with visionary foresight, a deep understanding of infrastructure, and unparalleled organizational skills. She has left an indelible mark on our studio, and I am grateful for her stewardship of our collective space.
Jen’s last day as studio manager is December 18th. You can reach Jen and then Angelica at the email address studio@yoga-sanctuary.com. Thank you to Jen and Angelica for their diligence this month in training.
As our teacher Ellen Morbyrne wrote so beautifully, “Yoga Sanctuary is embodying a perfect Vira II (we're steady in the present, anchored in what came before, gazing towards what's to come).”
Yours,
Lindsay
Hello Yogis!
You may recognize me as a work-study member, fellow student or more recently as one of Yoga Sanctuary’s teachers. Now, I am so excited to work with you all in my new capacity as the studio manager of Yoga Sanctuary!
When I came to Yoga Sanctuary five years ago, I was just looking for a studio where I could practice more often. What I found instead was inspiration, education, love and support as well as a new perspective on the world and a new sense of purpose. After joining the work-study team I discovered that this wonderful environment did not end with the teachers. I learned so much from Jen and the work-study team then and I continue to learn from the wonderful team we have now.
I did not intend to become a yoga teacher until I realized how much yoga helped me in my personal struggles with trauma. In teacher training, I gained a better understanding of the tantric philosophies and I was lucky enough to learn from the very teachers who inspired me! Since then, I have taken several training programs to learn more about trauma-informed yoga.
I have grown more than I ever expected to over these past 5 years and I have this studio to thank for it. It is from this place of appreciation, gratitude and love for the practice of yoga and for this studio that I move forward into this position. I am excited to see how our beautiful studio will grow and change through and beyond this pandemic and I look forward to the day when we can open our doors again for our kula and for all of the members of our community.
With love & gratitude,
Angelica Lopez, RYT-200
